During my time as an Executive Administrative Assistant at Roots Academy, I worked closely with the CEO and played an important part in keeping things running smoothly. My job involved a mix of administrative tasks and team collaboration, and I was always ready to jump in and help wherever needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrative Support: I helped the CEO with day-to-day tasks like managing the schedule, setting up meetings, handling emails, and keeping important documents organized.
- Monthly Reports: Every month, I put together reports on how the academy was doing in both English and French, including financial updates and progress on different projects, so the leadership team had a clear picture of where things stood.
- Course Planning and Curriculum: I worked with the team on designing and planning our courses, making sure everything was organized and met the academy’s goals.
- Teamwork on Web Content: Alongside a great team, I contributed to creating content for the website, making sure it represented the academy’s mission and was engaging for our audience.
- Social Media Management: Collaborating with a talented team of graphic designers and videographers, I was responsible for posting and scheduling content, responding to direct messages and customer concerns, and managing our social media platforms. Together, we created engaging and visually appealing content that accurately represented our brand’s mission
- Project Coordination: I helped plan and organize various projects, like launching new courses or planning events, making sure everything was on track.
- Document Preparation: I put together presentations and important documents for meetings, ensuring everything looked professional and clear.
- Cross-Department Communication: I acted as a go-between for different departments, helping to ensure that everyone stayed on the same page and worked together smoothly.
What I Learned:
Working at Roots Academy wasn’t just a job, it was a deeply enriching experience. I developed strong multitasking and organizational skills while managing a variety of responsibilities. Supporting the CEO taught me how to handle high-level priorities while staying flexible and adaptable to the fast-changing needs of the academy.
Being involved in both the administrative and creative sides of the organization gave me a broad perspective. I learned how important it is for a team to communicate well and stay organized, especially when working on big projects like launching new courses or updating the website. The opportunity to contribute to both the operational side and the creative vision of the academy made my role diverse and engaging.
This role helped me grow professionally and personally, giving me the confidence to take initiative, solve problems on the go, and see the impact of my work on the success of the academy. I became more than just an assistant, I was a key part of a team committed to education and growth, and I take pride in the contribution I made.
